Maine 2020 Day 1 & 2
Woke up before dawn yesterday to do the drive from Upstate New York to Bar Harbor, Maine. Commented that the 10 hour drive was longer than a flight to Europe.
It wasn’t so much a complaint, as I love Maine. It just explains why I haven’t been lately because going to Europe or Brazil is just as easy. Sure I could fly to Bangor, ME and then rent a car. You need a car to explore everything Maine has to offer.
Of course I picked up my beautiful Mercedes-Benz SLC300 in Germany 3 years ago, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day week. You can read all about my European Delivery experience.
Back to my trip… the drive was pretty uneventful, overcast. At the border to Maine at the Piscataqua River the sun started to break through. It got even sunnier the more I drove and I got some amazing sunset photos in Bucksport on the Penobscot River yesterday. Then last night I tried some night photography. This morning the clouds had travelled to join me, but I still got great shots from Acadia National Park with some sun peeking through. The afternoon then got rained out… it will clear tomorrow though my pandemic reservation up Cadillac Mountain may be too early.
